The University of Montreal offers Afro-Canadian scholarships for a PhD program starting in Fall 2025, to be completed by August 31, 2029, for African students.

PhD Programs:
Candidates interested in the One Health approach can apply for the Afro-Canadian scholarships to pursue doctoral studies.
Relevant Fields of Study:
• Public Health
• Veterinary Sciences
• Other related disciplines
Program Features:
• Must start in Fall 2025 and finish by August 31, 2029.
• Years 1 and 2: Coursework and comprehensive exams at the University of Montreal.
• Years 3 and 4: Data collection, thesis writing, and defense in the candidate’s home country.
Eligibility by Country:
Candidates must demonstrate their ability to work on one of the following research projects in their country:
• Benin: Microplastics, Antibiotic Resistance
• Burkina Faso: Multicriteria Analysis, Surveillance System
• Senegal: Intervention Effectiveness, Surveillance System
Funding:
Three scholarships will be awarded—one each for Benin, Burkina Faso, and Senegal. The funding covers:
• Round-trip airfare in economy class
• Immigration and medical exam fees
• Tuition fees
• Monthly living allowance
• Local transportation costs
• Clothing allowance
• Installation allowance
• Health insurance
• Reimbursement for required books
Non-eligible Expenses:
• Passport costs
• Local travel expenses in the partner country
• Representation fees
• Entertainment expenses
• Credit fees
• Patents
Application Process:
Candidates can apply multiple times but can only receive one scholarship. Submit applications via email to the respective country address by November 15, 2024, including:
• Completed application form
• CV
• Official transcripts and certificates
• Birth certificate
• Signed recommendation letter from a scientific referee
Submission:
All documents must be submitted as a single PDF file named last_first_country.
Incomplete applications will not be processed.
