The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and Singapore Management University (SMU). It is a fully-funded scholarship available to international students with excellent academic results at the undergraduate and/or master’s level, who have a strong interest in research leading to a PhD or EngD in science and engineering at a university in Singapore.

About the Singapore Government SINGA Scholarships
Students can choose to pursue a PhD or EngD at A*STAR research institutes, NTU, NUS, SUTD, SMU, or SIT (Singapore Institute of Technology). Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a PhD or EngD degree from NTU, NUS, SUTD, SMU, or SIT.

Eligibility Criteria for SINGA Scholarships
- Open to all international graduates passionate about research with excellent academic records.
- Note: SINGA is primarily for international students who are applying to study in Singapore for the first time. Singaporeans, permanent residents, and international students who have studied in Singapore are not eligible.
- Good proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Positive academic reports from referees.
- The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR may include additional selection criteria based on current scholarship policies, which can be updated periodically without notice.
Financial Coverage for SINGA Scholarships
The scholarship provides support for up to four years of PhD studies, including:
- Full tuition fees.
- Monthly stipend of SGD 2,700, which increases to SGD 3,200 upon passing the qualifying exam.
- One-time airfare grant of up to SGD 1,500.
- One-time settling-in allowance of SGD 1,000.

Note: These rates apply to scholars starting their PhD from January 2024. Housing priority is generally given to first-year students.

SINGA Application Procedure
- Browse PhD Research Projects: Review the available research projects that match your interests.
- Prepare Required Documents: Ensure all required documents are ready before applying. Do not send any physical documents to the SINGA office. All necessary documents must be submitted online.
Required Documents
- Valid passport
- Recent passport-sized photo (in .jpeg or .png format)
- Academic transcripts (Bachelor’s and/or Master’s) translated into English
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree certificates (or a university-issued letter if the certificate has not been conferred yet)
- Two recommendation reports (submitted online by the referees)
- GRE scores (required for applicants to NUS supervisors/projects)
- Optional: IELTS/TOEFL/SAT I & II/GATE scores (may be requested later for university admission)
Important Information
- Ensure that the information you provide during account registration in the application portal is accurate. These details will be used for verification.
- After logging in, ensure you are applying for the correct scholarship – “Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA)”.
- Do not send any paper documents to the SINGA office.
- Submit your application as early as possible to allow referees sufficient time to submit their recommendation reports online before the deadline. Only applications with two submitted recommendation reports will be processed.
- Verify that all information entered in the online application form is correct before submission. No changes can be made after the submission.
